Ubuntu Feisty - 1st Thoughts
After the release of Ubuntu Feisty Fawn, I upgraded my Thinkpad. The simplest way to upgrade is to use Updater Manager (make sure you have “update-manager-core” to enable release upgrader). All seems to work, except for:
ACPI Module Running Slow
I found that it takes more than a minute to load ACPI modules and start hald daemon program. The computer looks dead in these two steps. I can only start with boot parameter “acpi=off”.
Desktop Effects Could Not Be Enabled
The composite extension is no longer available. I’ve to rebuild my fglrx manually (using driver version 8.36.5 for kernel 2.6.20.*) and desktop effects (built-in function in feisty, no need beryl) works like a charm.
PNPBios Problem
PNPBios has a problem on my thinkpad. I;ve to disable it (”pnpbios=off”) during booting up my feisty.
